Vacation? That means eating. On the menu: a first taste of @missioncheese.
Now the moment of truth w/ a bite of ca gold: http://plixi.com/p/94577752. Verdict? Scrumptious. Pungent and smooth and oh-so-satisfying.

Simply LADEN with the fruits (well, root veggies) of our labors: beastly daikon, baby beets, and gorgeously golden carrots.
After the resounding success of their east Asian experiments, the chefs are heading off to a relaxing day on the farm.

Down in PA. Obviously calls for a shot of nostalgia – double cap and free wifi at del Doge. As always, the Italianos are out in force.
Mardi chez maman: a duo of Julia + a little downhome Jewish mama. To start, sauteed liver and scallions (nice & crispy) & Bourgogne blanc -
Julia’s roast chicken with lemon and sage (complete with butter massage!) for the centerpiece - from Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home.
And, to top it off, clafoutis aux pruneaux. Mastering the Art of French Cooking, of course.
Everyone – everyone, I know – loves Julia Child. But just to reiterate. This is what food is all about: http://bit.ly/wOUXA
8/3: shrimp in a tomato harissa sauce with raisins, pine nuts & honey (hello leftovers!); bay scallops sauteed in olive oil & rosemary.
8/2: quinoa cakes w/ slowcooked fennel and green heirlooms; homemade orecchiete w/ Tunisian tomato crudo.
Dinner with friends two nights in a row - what could be better?
I love this city. And so excited to get out and try some adobo! RT @AdoboHobo: A real life hobo bought two plates of adobo today for $10.
Fourth trip to Bi-Rite in 3 days. Gawd, I love summer. Also feeling quite inspired by the tiny Bay scallops @ Sun Fat Fish. So many ideas…
Mayo-free egg salad: burrata, creme fraiche, ricotta, with anchovies, pine nuts, dijon, fresh herbs. Scrumptious.
Gruner, goat cheese, walnuts, and grapes at Borrone’s. Working off the buzz, then back to the city for grocery shopping adventures.

And now, even better, homemade pesto with basil from Zander’s garden and fresh fettucine. Plums w/ dolce de leche reduction for dessert YUM
Might have to pop open a Txakolina just to pretend the weather’s nice. Gotta love summer in the city.
Thursday = food day. (Even Michael Skurnik is on the bandwagon: http://bit.ly/FEPfI.) First up – Ferry Plaza street food.
Back home, after enough yoga to make me want to eat for days. SF Mag, apparently, got on the street food bandwagon in my absence. Viva!
And two, when in Truckee, eat at Dragonfly. So good. With a better wine list than, apparently, the whole of Beverly Hills.
Two words of advice from the (admittedly not foodie-centric, for once) trail:
One, when living it up to Jeff Goldblum and Co at aqua lounge, do not order vino- Never has dreck been so overpriced.
Last meal before Lalaland. Quick pizza with olive oil, lemon zucchini, arugula, prosciutto, and pecorino toscano. Now, packing…
Perfect lazy afternoon = a “double” of Jesus Juice, Rosemary Pinenut, and McEvoy Olive Oil @humphryslocombe. This, people, is ice cream.
Off to picnic in the park!
Stayin’ in: one skillet dinner – pork loin with fagioli tondini, plums, arugula, and fried prosciutto with a light, tasty pays de vaucluse.
With lavender brulee from the oh-so-sweet @cremebruleecart have fulfilled childhood fantasy of dessert before dinner. Yum.
Back home, 9 hours & 11 miles later. Time to pop a Cheverny, cook up some Perciatelli with parsley and lemon zucchini, and call it a night.
So closes a day of multiple foodgasms – some of them earthshattering. (I’m talking at you @Chicharrones; that dog was outta this world.)
Penultimate foodgasmic stop: Berkeley Bowl. Holding back - just avocados & Meyer lemons for guac on the porch with a little sauvignon blanc.
Some people smoke after sex. Post foodgasm afternoon, I prefer a walk thru Temescal & Rockridge and mint tea Tunisian style - hot and sweet.
Golden Dog, ‘zilla style. Savory, spicy, with chicharrone crunch. Perfect.
Numero quattro: citrus fennel sorbet from Scream. Not too big, not too sweet, way more than a palette cleanser.
A little foreplay en route - a peek in Humphrey Slocombe and a slow walk through Rainbow. Sigh.
Foodgasm stop 3: 4505 tent at Ferry Plaza. I would stand here all afternoon just to smell the wafting pork and kimichi.
Foodgasm stops 1&2: blueberry galette @ Mission Pie, large Ambrosia @ Phil’z.
Foodgasm Day: an excellent adventure on both sides of the Bay.

More political than I usually get in this forum, but this is beautiful. Iranian protesters set Basij on the run. Restores your faith in the right to revolution.
